“The Logical Song” by Supertramp is MY SH*T!!! I love this song. Check it out.

I strongly urge y’all to check out this video of Ms. Platnum, a German/Hungarian songstress that’s reminiscent of a cross between Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen with a little Fergie (when she’s not rapping). She’s actually not bad. This is her video for her song “Give Me The Food” and girlfriend is not about eating just “yogurt and strawberries,” she’s trying to EAT. Here’s what she had to say about Beyonce, Ciara and Mariah Carey:
“She is a part of me,” Renner says, “but sometimes, it helps to exaggerate: to think of a story not just as your own story, to take parts of it but then make something up, and make a whole new thing. I think the exaggeration and the ironic thing - the humour - is very important. I’m missing that in R&B and soul music right now, so that’s also why I wanted to do something almost against all the Ciaras and Beyoncés. Mariah Carey used to be such a great singer, but now she’s just all plastic. Poor little lady………
I love R&B, I don’t wanna make fun of it,” says Renner. “I just laugh about how people are: I’m pointing the finger at anyone who’s imitating that kind of airbrushed perfection. I just want to make better R&B music, for myself, and find a corner where I fit in. And I’ve realised I don’t fit in this Beyoncé/Ciara type of thing: I don’t look like them, and never will do, so I just try to do my own thing. Most young ladies, when they start thinking about doing R&B or soul or hip-hop, they all look at these types and then they try to imitate them. And realising that you cannot really get there is maybe a good thing. For me it was.”
LMAO @ poor little lady. After seeing Mariah in the video with Bone Thugs “Lil’ L.O.V.E” I concur! Here’s the video (it’s in English don’t worry):

Apparently you can’t keep a good dog nor a good song down. At least that’s what Kelly Rowland thinks! She’s set to cover pop sensation Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head in a re-release of one of the hottest pop tunes ever.
According to News.Com.Au:
The move follows fan feedback the rhythm and blues singer received after performing a version of the song at an exclusive London nightclub.
However, the new translation is set to have more of a hip-hop feel - very different to the bubblegum pop version originally released in 2001.
Just don’t do it live, Kelly! She better get it right because either, and I MUST be so blunt, a) white folks will love it and she will live to see another day or b) white folks will hate it and it will be a wrap. Remember those cats that remade Queen’s song “Bohemian Rhapsody?” Yeah….neither do I. *P.S. I LOVE Kylie Minogue and that song! Just an FYI*
Speaking of which, according to Sohh Soulful, she has landed at about #5 on the charts as of July 8th. OUCH! But it’s better than the number bazillion some folks thought.

Attention Alicia Keys fans! You may only have a little over four months to wait before another Alicia album drops! According to Billboard.com, Ms. Keys has penciled in a release date of October 23rd with her label J Records.
She’ll be working with the renowned Linda Perry on this album. If you saw her performance with Keith Urban at Live Earth over the weekend, you can expect more of that soulful funk/rock vibe she showed off on the album. You can also expect some cool cameos like Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry. Oh be still my weary heart!

Justin Timberlake’s new label Tennman Records has signed its first artist and she’s no joke. The 18 year old Dutch songstress is Esmee Denters and Justin is so excited he’s bringing her on tour with him.
Justin revealed yesterday (05.06.07): “In completely unpredicted news to all YouTubers and bloggers, we are proud to announce Esmee Denters has signed to Tennman Records and she will be joining me on tour this summer.”“Esmee is the real deal and I cannot wait for the world to hear her, but all of her fans on YouTube should not worry, we will keep you in the loop every step of the way.”
Dutch singer Denters, whose web page attracted 21 million hits from web users eager to see her cover versions of hits by Beyonce Knowles, Alanis Morisette and Alicia Keys, is looking forward to writing and recording an album this year.
She said: “Words can’t describe how amazing it is. I am so excited! It is something I have always dreamed of doing. I have to thank YouTube and its viewers for giving me the opportunity to show the world my voice.”
So I went to go check her since she’s on YouTube and I listened to her cover of Otis Redding’s “Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay” and I was amazed. She killed it! She will need a makeover at first but looks don’t make you a good singer. I’m sure I don’t need to mention any names. Here’s Esmee:

Mr. Beatnik was going through and fell on CMT and my jaw dropped because as he skipped the channel, I caught a glimpse of a black woman singing country. Charley Pride and Cowboy Troy (as frivolous as his songs tend to be) prove that country music is not foreign territory to blacks. Hell I’m a huge Johnny Cash fan myself. But Rissi blew my mind. I admit that she’s made a fan out of me. I’m sorry but I was bored to TEARS with every black female artist coming out genitals first, talent after. But that’s just me. My favorites are “Country Girl” and “Leavin’ On Your Mind” in which she brings some excellent vocals. She adds a certain soul to her songs that really adds flavor. She first made a name for herself as a finalist on CBS’ Star Search where Naomi Judd praised her. I can see why!

I like NEW things so when Zuby (Nzube Udezue) suggested I take a look at him right out the gate on our Myspace page I had to listen. This UK born brother is no dummy either. He’s attending the University of Oxford for Computer Science. He’s worldly too, having spent part of his life in Saudi Arabia. His track “Start All Over” featuring Webbafied is my favorite. Production is reminiscent of something Kanye West would do and the message is positive NOT ignorant. So you won’t have to worry about an NSFW tag on this joint. Some may want to write him off for not being “hard” enough…but I’m a little tired of “hard.” He’s got a strong following in the UK and I’m hoping he can do the Lupe Fiasco thing and bring a new concept here.

So I’m a music conossieur. So I’m trying to spread a few of my favorites to the world in HOPES that you cats (UK I see you!) will check out these artists who are kind enough to ask me to post their music. ALL of these songs I listen to and dig. If they suck, I throw them the hell out and tell the person it sucks. If not, I post it. The Unfidelz are actually doing well for themselves garnering the attention of well-known underground rappers and their A&Rs. I see why. This is very different rap than the standard fare. I’m posting anything that sounds good and is different.
Sounds like: A cross between La Coka Nostra, Eminem, Beastie Boys (accent when spitting)
Production reminds me of: production on Xzibit’s past albums and Eminem.
My Favorite: “Untouchables”

According to one of my favorite mags XXL Magazine , The Real Hip-Hop Network will launch a 24/7 cable channel dedicated to what looks like EVERYTHING BET NO LONGER STANDS FOR! Oh goodie! A network where black folk ain’t buying “dranks,” damn near fucking on camera and acting a fool? Where do I sign up? I won’t deny I dance like a hoe do my thing when some songs play at the club, but that’s at the club. I hardly want to see black folks looking a mess on national television. Naw…I don’t care who doesn’t agree with me on this. BET is run by pimps. The CEO seems to agree:
The Real Hip-Hop Network is launching a 24-hour cable channel this summer dedicated to the four elements of the hip-hop culture — DJing, MCing, break dancing and graffiti. The channel will air movies, international hip-hop content, news, commentary, live concerts, original programming, documentaries and music videos. “RNH stands for creating a balance in hip-hop, challenging the negative stereotypes, and taking hip-hop back to its roots,” says Atonn Muhammad, RHN Broadcast Corporation CEO. “Hip-Hop is in a state of emergency and RHN is the cure.”
Well as long as there is no RHN Uncut, Cita or Rocsi…you’ll be just fine Mr. Muhammad.
